Making my own time zone
When you're a late riser, days are always too short.
Wake up at 10,
breakfast until 12,
frickeln und friemeln at home until 2,
then ride downtown for appointments, grocery shopping,
and yet it's 6,
and there is still nothing written,
no coffee and cake taken,
no homemade gnocchis made for dinner.
It's so frustrating! Today, when I came back at 6, I had this frustrating feeling again, but an idea popped up in my mind:
What if I make my own timezone?
In my world we have central european time minus two. That means, when everyone has their first coffee break, for me it's waking up time. When they have lunch, I have breakfast. When they have tea time, on my clock it's lunch time. When I have tea time, they're already taking dinner. And when I have dinner, many of them are already in their pajamas.
I'm constantly in a state of bad conscious for being too late. In the mornings I don't make it out of bed in time, at night I try hard to fall asleep at 12, but mostly stay wide awake until 2.
So today when I came back home at 6, I just put the clock back on 4, and immediately felt better: Afternoon coffee break time!
While I write this, it's 5.30 on my clock, and there's still enough time to write a little before preparing dinner. What a gift, two extra-hours. I feel liberated!
Blue. Like the sky.
Around me:
Diana is busy preparing a performance festival.
Luise has booked her flight to Florida and will stay her last month in Germany in my guestroom.
My father is home again, after more than a month up north for construction inspection. The house of my childhood will be gone soon. I'm already homesick.
Jonathan is alive and just gave me a sign of life, which didn't sound very happy, but very much like him.
Marina has some space left in her timetable. Call her for freelance jobs!
What I learned in February
Every inner voice has a positive message, even if it doesn't sound like it.
Books
I was still reading "The book thief" when I came across the books of Stieg Larsson, which I have been wanting to read for a long time yet. I'm still busy reading the third one. They're not great literature, but who said that only great literature means great fun? For an afternoon in the sauna losing myself in another world they're just perfect.
Movies
I just discovered the new series "In treatment – der Therapeut".
It's a pearl. I'm grateful and surprised to find something like this on TV. It's slow, quiet, the setting is very simple, just therapist and patient, talking. But nothing is missing.
You have 4 Patients: Laura, Alex, Sophie and the couple Amy and Jake. On fridays, Paul, the therapist, sees his supervisor, Gina, who's a most impressive wise old woman. My favorites are the sessions with Sophie and with Gina. It's sooooo interesting how all these people are in denial about their feelings. You can easily identify with one of them, as we all have our secrets, don't we?
Also, it was "Parallel reality month" – I watched "The Jacket" and "Die Vorahnung." Interesting for everyone who liked "Butterfly effect".
I like the philosophical aspect about it: What if we could change the past? Would it change also the present?
What I'm into at the moment/researching:
Old cell phones. I'm planning to buy every cellphone I've ever had to start an "Old Cellphone Museum". Isn't it interesting how much a little ringtone can guide the way to our memories? That's because in our times the cellphones are companions of everyday. And our ears are good in keeping memories, almost as good as our nose.
I'm wondering if there's a posibility to create a "Portable Camino Museum"? I need to find these transparent zip-bags you use to archive pieces of evidence.
More things I'm into: Learning how to make home made Gnocchis. Finding the right spices to prepare home made Chai Tea with my own spice mix. Spring-Cleaning. Having fresh lillies every week.
New in February:
- Stieg Larsson books
- "In Treatment"
- Mangos, Papayas, Melons and Ananas
- Bircher Müsli for breakfast
- Home made Chai tea
- three pairs of perfect Jeans
- a rosemary bush from the supermarket that feels pretty well on my window sill above the warm heating. It has already some fresh green shoots.
Question of the month
Do I want cigarettes or do the cigarettes want me?
Wisdom of the month
When someone you love is in trouble, and he's very chaotic, you can decide to grow chaotic with him or to stay stable. What would you do, when someone has fallen into the river – would you just jump after him or would you stay at the solid floor of the riverbank to offer him your hand so that he can pull himself out?
My special thanks in january go to:
Stieg Larsson, for hours of reading pleasure.
My new dentist, for empathy.
Mr. S., for wisdom and patience.
Jonathan, for teaching me a lesson about myself.
Future plans:
Be happy and healthy.
Be open to whatever comes my way.
Wish you all a creative march!
Stefka
